Ragnar Persenius

Per Ragnar Theodor Persenius (born June 27, 1952 in Uppsala ) is a bishop of the Lutheran Church of Sweden .

Life

Ragnar Persenius comes from a pastor's family. After finishing school, Persenius studied theology . Persenius has been a Lutheran pastor in Uppsala since 1973. In 1988 Persenius obtained his theological doctorate in Lund with a treatise on Kyrkans identitet. En study i kyrkotänkandets profilering inom Svenska kyrkan i ekumeniskt perspective 1937–1952 . Persenius became bishop in the diocese of Uppsala on May 7, 2000 , in which Antje Jackelén has been Lutheran archbishop since 2014. Persenius also ran for the office of Archbishop of Uppsala in 2014.

On February 24, 2019, Ragnar Persenius laid down the crosier in a service in Uppsala Cathedral . His successor was Karin Johannesson .
