Heshmat Sandjari

Heshmat Sandschari , internationally also Heshmat Sanjari (* 1918 ; † January 4, 1995 ) ( Persian حشمت سنجری), was an Iranian composer and conductor.

Life

Heschmat Sandschari was born in 1918 as the son of the famous tar player Hossein Sandschari. He studied violin at the Tehran Conservatory of Music under Serge Khotsief. Later took a conducting course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Hans Swarowsky .

In 1951 he became director of the Tehran Music Conservatory, and from 1960 he took over the direction of the Tehran Philharmonic Orchestra . He directed the orchestra until 1972.

As a guest conductor he gave concerts with the chamber orchestra of the National Iranian Radio and Television (NITV) and several European orchestras.

Compositions

Among his compositions, Persian Pictures and Niayesh ( Persian نيايش, DMG Nīāyeš ). Persian Pictures has been called a masterpiece of contemporary Iranian symphonic music.
