Tord Wiksten

Tord Wiksten (born June 30, 1971 in Byske ) is a former Swedish biathlete and today's team official of Sweden.

Life

Tord Wiksten lives in Torsby and trained in Östersund . He has been biathlon since 1981. His home club is SK Bore . Wiksten made his first major appearance at an international event at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . In the sprint he was 48th with the Swedish relay, which included Ulf Johansson , Leif Andersson and Mikael Löfgren , he won the Olympic bronze. In 1993 in Oberhof he won his first World Cup points as 20th in the sprint during his first World Cup appearance. Later he was at his first appearance at the Biathlon World Championships in Borovets relay six. Shortly afterwards he had to sit out for almost two years due to a back injury. He made his comeback in 1995 in Östersund. Wiksten's best World Cup result in 2001 was a second place behind Raphaël Poirée in the Oberhof sprint.

Wiksten took part in world championships five times in a row between 1996 and 2000 without achieving outstanding results. After 1992 he took part in the Olympic Games in 1998 and 2002 , again without any notable success. In 2003 he ended his career.
