The Torduff Reservoir is a reservoir in Scotland .
geography
The lake is around 460 m long and a maximum of 120 m wide and lies in the south of the Edinburgh Council Area in front of the western flank of the Pentland Hills . The southern foothills of Edinburgh begin around 1.5 km to the north. Capelaw Hill (454 m) rises to the southeast .
The outflow from the Clubbiedean Reservoir , located 200 m to the southwest, forms the only significant inflow of the Torduff Reservoir. The outgoing at the final embankment on the northeastern shore Bonaly Burn united after a short distance by from the Bonaly reservoir outgoing Dean Burn .
history
Construction work to dam the Clubbiedean Burn was completed in 1851. Like the surrounding lakes, the reservoir serves as the water supply for Edinburgh. The operator is the water utility Scottish Water .
