The Grassau-Rottau peat station is a former operating site on the Rosenheim – Salzburg railway line . It is located in Wessen , a district of the municipality of Übersee in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein , north of the Grassau district of Rottau . The station was built in 1920 by the Bernau correctional facility as a peat processing and loading station on the northern edge of the Kendlmühlfilzen .

The multi-storey main building is a timber frame structure staggered in height with conveyor and loading facilities.

This includes office and storage buildings, wagons and equipment halls, as well as the former peat master and workshop building, which today houses the Bavarian Moor and Peat Museum. The peat station facilities are under monument protection .

Track systems of the field railway and train sets for material and passenger transport have been preserved.
