Torgersen Island is a rocky island in the West Antarctic Palmer Archipelago . It is located east of Litchfield Island in the entrance to Arthur Harbor off the southwest coast of Anvers Island .

The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) carried out surveys in 1955. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on July 7, 1959 after Torstein Torgersen (* 1918), first mate on board the Norwegian sealer MV Norsel , which the FIDS had chartered to build the surveying station on Arthur Harbor between 1954 and 1955.
