Litchfield Island is an 800 m long and up to 50 m high island in the West Antarctic Palmer Archipelago . It is located 800 m south of Norsel Point off the southwest coast of Anvers Island .
The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) carried out surveys in 1955. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it on July 7, 1959 after Douglas Bernard Litchfield (* 1927), who in 1955 worked as a general assistant and mountaineer for the FIDS at the Arthur Harbor station and was involved in numerous surveys and soundings in the area this island was involved.
