The Torlyn Mountain (in Norway sometimes also Torlynfjell ) is an elongated, rugged and up to 395 m high mountain or ridge on the coast of the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . It rises together with the upstream Murray monolith 6 km east of the Scullin monolith .
The name after the Norwegian whaling ship Torlyn took place in the course of the exploration of the coastline by Norwegian whalers between January and February 1931. Overflights over the area took place in January 1930 and February 1931 with the British Australian and New Zealand Antarctic Research Expedition (1929-1931) below led by Australian polar explorer Douglas Mawson . Their designation as Murray monolith was only retained for the formation in front of the mountain.
