As a city ​​council, the Toronto City Council is the supreme legislative body of the Canadian city ​​of Toronto in Ontario . The members represent the individual constituencies of the city and are known as city councils.

The city council currently consists of 45 members, the elected 44 council members and the mayor . The agendas for the council and committee meetings are set by the city administration. The salary for the mayor is Canadian $ 163,040 per year; that for a councilor $ 96,805 a year.

Committees

There are seven standing council committees: Government, Committee on Public Works and Infrastructure, Economic Development, Parks and Environment, Community Services and Recreation, Licensing and Procurement, and Planning and Growth Management. There are also three other internal committees.

The main committee consists of the mayor, the deputy mayor, the seven chairmen of the standing committees and four other members appointed by the city council. Subcommittees of the Main Committee are the Committee on Budgets, the Committee on Affordable Housing, and the Committee on the Relationship between Workers and Labor Costs.
