TorrentFreak is an English-language advertising-financed blog founded in 2005 , which is dedicated to news from the field of file sharing , copyright and data protection .

history

The blog was founded on November 12, 2005 by the Dutchman Lennart Renkema under the pseudonym "Ernesto Van Der Sar". Other contributors are Andy "Enigmax" Maxwell and CTO Ben Jones, who were added to the blogger team in February and May 2007, respectively, wrote "Smaran" for Torrentfreak from September 2006 to early 2008, and there are also some guest authors, the Pirate Party - Founder Rickard Falkvinge is a columnist. Today the blog is one of the most cited sources of information on the subject of file sharing.

Some of the most important stories published on TorrentFreak are the articles about the American Internet service provider Comcast , which violated applicable US and international law by violating net neutrality.

The content of the blog was under free Creative Commons licenses until 2012 . The content has been under the Creative Commons Non-Commercial license since 2012.
