Athletic career

Pinkohs began his career as a soccer player in 1970 in the children's team at FC Hansa Rostock. As a junior player, he was part of the GDR junior national team in 1980 and 1981, with which he played ten international matches, in which he scored one goal. For Hansa Rostock he already played in the men's division in 1980/81. He was used both in the junior league and with the 1st team in the GDR Oberliga. For the offspring, the 1.83 m tall striker played ten games with three goals and was called up twice in the league, where he shot his first league goal on his second appearance. During this encounter on April 15, 1981, Pinkohs was seriously injured, had to undergo an operation and was not able to play a competitive game again until March 20, 1982 in the junior league. By the end of the season he played seven times for the youngsters, but was only called up as a substitute. Also in the 1982/83 season Pinkohs only played in the junior league, but was part of the player base there with 24 appearances (3 goals). When the junior league was dissolved for the 1983/84 season and their teams were integrated into the third-rate district leagues as the second team , Pinkohs was mainly used with Hansa II in the Rostock district league this season. With this team he became district champion, but the promotion to the GDR league was missed in the promotion round. In the league, Pinkohs celebrated his comeback in the second half of the season, he was used in four point games. In 1984/85 he was again officially part of the league squad and was called up in almost all league games from the 9th matchday on (16/1), including nine times from the start. In the first half of the 1985/86 season Pinkohs was used in ten league games, but injured himself again in December and did not play until the end of the season. FC Hansa ended the season as relegated and was represented in the GDR league in 1986/87. Pinkohs was nominated for the 1st team, but was not used.

In the fall of 1986 Pinkohs moved to the GDR league club BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen Rostock , where he played 21 of 36 point games (two goals) by the end of the season. Pinkohs also experienced relegation with BSG Schiffahrt / Hafen, and he played again in the district league in 1987/88. With the team he managed the immediate return to the GDR league, where he played five point games (one goal) with Schiffahrt / Hafen in the first half of the 1988/89 season. He was then called up for military service and worked as a coach for the Vorwärts Drögeheide army sports club in the Neubrandenburg district league until 1990. Pinkohs later worked again as a junior coach at Hansa Rostock.
