Torsten Sümnich

Torsten Sümnich (born October 1, 1973 in Bad Kreuznach ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Torsten Sümnich was discovered at the TUS Argenthal in the Hunsrück. Sümnich began his career in the youth team of MSV Duisburg , where he also made the leap into the men's division as a player in the second team. In the 1997/98 season he moved to the upper division FC Wegberg-Beeck and 1999/2000 to the second division SC Fortuna Köln , where he stayed until his move to Braunschweig in 2001. The 1.80 m tall midfielder was under contract with Eintracht Braunschweig from 2001 to 2006 . With the Braunschweig he made it to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2002 and 2005 .

After his career ended in June 2006, the qualified sports teacher Sümnich runs a football school in Braunschweig and was the coach of the B-youth team at Eintracht Braunschweig from 2007 to 2011. Torsten Sümnich has been a member of VfB Rot-Weiß Braunschweig since July 2008 and from 2008 to 2012 was in charge of the nationwide unique project Life Chances through Sport , with which the association wanted to encourage children and young people to exercise. Since July 2012 Torsten Sümnich has been working for the follow-up project to promote physical activity for children and young people in the west of the city of Braunschweig . The project sponsor is also the VfB Rot-Weiß Braunschweig. Furthermore, he leads working groups and sports courses in the field of football at the Gaußschule high school on Löwenwall in Braunschweig.
