The Tortula Cove is a small cove on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located south of Mai Point on the east side of Maiviken , a side bay of Cumberland Bay .
Participants in the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903) led by Otto Nordenskjöld carried out a rough survey of this bay. More precise measurements were made in 1929 by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations and in 1951 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it after the Tortula robusta toothed moss that grows on the shore of the bay.
