description

The tour is a hiking trip with luggage . The current route has always started at the end of June in Ingolstadt since 1968 (XIII. TID) . It leads through the other organizing countries Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania and ends in mid-September after 2,516 kilometers in Sfântu Gheorghe (Romania) on the Black Sea. In some years the upper Danube from Donaueschingen to Ingolstadt will also be traveled in partial stages . Romania has officially been part of the TID organization since the 54th TID in 2009, and Croatia as well since 2012.

The number of participants varies from year to year and on the individual sections, it is on average in the lower three-digit range.

The aim of the event from the beginning was to get to know each other and to accept the life and culture of other citizens regardless of their political, ideological, religious or ethnic differences. Friendships should be made, solidarity between water sports enthusiasts and citizens of different countries strengthened, and friendship and peace between peoples, especially those in the Danube countries, should be promoted.

The highest body, the TID conference, discusses and decides the schedule, conditions of participation, necessary measures and any questions regarding the statutes. The conference also decides on the awarding of the TID awards. The official language of the TID is German (correspondence, minutes, etc.).

The cost contributions, which vary from country to country, are a symbolic contribution to the support of the organizations, which in each member country are dependent on their own initiative and voluntary workers.

The journey can be started and ended at any of the planned campsites after prior notification. Everyone can freely design the timing of the individual daily stages. There is no guided tour on the water. Daily distances of between 20 and 60 kilometers have to be covered, regardless of the weather conditions (heat, rain, wind). Participation is not recommended if you have health problems. The prerequisite for participation is correctly assembled, complete and high-quality equipment.
