Tour of Trinidad and Tobago

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tour of Trinidad and Tobago is a cycling race in Trinidad and Tobago . The stage race was held for the first time in August 2012 on the occasion of the country's 50th anniversary.

The first edition of the tour comprised ten stages, starting at the Arima Velodrome in Arima on Trinidad and ending at the Hyatt Hotel in Port of Spain , also on Trinidad. Only one stage was held on Tobago , a 95-kilometer circuit race on Courland Bay. Each stage was named after a former cycling star in the country.

The President of the Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation (TTCF) expressed hope that the race could become an annual event. In the following year, the tour consisted of only four stages.
