Tourism in South Korea

The tourism in South Korea is one of the major branches of the service sector of the country.

According to the Federal Foreign Office, South Korea is a safe travel destination. In the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017 of the World Economic Forum, South Korea ranks 19th out of 136 countries.

Attractions

The country has a large number of significant cultural monuments. The UNESCO has several of them to the World Heritage collected. Many tourists also choose to vacation on the South Korean island of Jeju-do .

In 2012, 11.1 million tourists traveled to South Korea, of which around 102,000 were Germans. By 2016 the number of tourists rose to over 17 million.
