Tovarna Automobilov in Motorjev
Tovarna Automobilov in Motorjev ( TAM ) is a commercial vehicle brand from Slovenia founded in 1946 . TAM vehicles have been produced by Tovarna Vozil Maribor (TVM), based in Maribor , since 2001 .
history
TAM was founded in Maribor on December 31, 1946 on the initiative of the then Yugoslav Prime Minister Josip Broz Tito . In 1947 the company began building trucks in the 3-tonne class and water-cooled petrol engines with 52 kW. The name of the first vehicle type was "TAM Pionir". These were licensed buildings by the Czechoslovak manufacturer Praga . Around 1,700 copies of the Pionir were built and exported until 1962.
From 1958, TAM also built truck and bus models from the German Magirus-Deutz brand under license, which were also used by the Yugoslav military . The trucks were hooded vehicles with air-cooled diesel engines under license from Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz (KHD). The type designations were TAM 5000 (truck, 5 tons payload, 85 PS, also available with all-wheel drive ), TAM 5500 (truck, 5.5 tons payload, 125 PS), TAM 6500 (truck, 6.5 tons payload, 125 PS) , TAM 110T10 (truck, 10 tons total weight, 110 hp) and TAM 170T14 (truck, 14 tons total weight, 170 hp).
In 1962, the production of the Praga licensed buildings ran out. In the course of time I also added my own constructions, e.g. B. the TAM 6500BVL, the TAM 110T7BV and the TAM 150T11BV 6x6 (all front-wheel drive trucks with air-cooled engines under KHD license).
In the period after the Second World War , TAM was Yugoslavia's leading truck and bus manufacturer alongside FAP . However, in the late 1980s and early 1990s, TAM ran into economic difficulties. On June 3, 1996, the company became insolvent and then lost its economic independence.
However, truck production was continued from 2001 under the TAM brand but by the successor company Tovarna Vozil Maribor (TVM) under the direction of the Slovenian state. After that, TVM belonged to Viator & Vektor Speditionsgesellschaft and focused on the production and maintenance of mini, midi and airport apron buses under license from the MAN subsidiary Neoplan . In addition, off -road trucks and military vehicles were built under license from MAN Nutzfahrzeuge . In addition to the production and maintenance of trucks and buses of the TAM brand, the construction and modification of commercial vehicle bodies was also part of the activities of the TVM company.
In 2011 TVM TAM went bankrupt.
In 2013 a joint venture began with the participation of the Austrian VEC. The traditional production of trucks and buses was resumed in Slovenia under the new name TAM Durabus .
The Chinese conglomerate CHTC holds 51 percent of the joint venture supported by TAM Durabus.
The remaining 49 percent belong to the Dutch company Duracar, which specializes in electromobility, together with the Austrian management consultancy VEC Venture Europe Consulting, which provides one of the managing directors appointed for four years. The second managing director comes from the Dutch company Duracar, which is also backed by the Chinese CHTC.
TAM Durabus wants to specialize in airport buses with hybrid and electric motors, with individual components also being supplied from China.
