The Tower Jazz Band (also Tower Jazz Band, Tower Jazz Band or Tower Jazz Band) is a Berlin jazz band that was founded in Berlin-Altglienicke in 1962 . The band is based on the English traditional jazz of the 1950s and has developed an independent musical profile over the years of its existence.

Career

The band, which was named after a water tower, has proven its high level of performance in countless concerts at home and abroad and has had a permanent place in the Berlin jazz scene for years. In the GDR , the Tower Jazz Band was one of the most successful old-time jazz bands and played a major role in the spread of jazz. Joint appearances and jam sessions with the Chris Barber Jazz Band , as well as the musical reception of Louis Armstrong in the Berolina Hotel, first places in performance comparisons (1969, 1970) and numerous radio productions and appearances on GDR television are evidence of this . On the compilation Dixie-Party , published by Amiga in 1979 , you can hear the original composition Cherry-Brandy , as well as Traditionals with arrangements by Bernd Heinrich. The band took part in the first International Dixieland Festival in Dresden in 1971. Further appearances followed from 1975 to 2010.
