The Towle Point is a promontory at the northeastern end of the Antarctic Ross Island . It is one mile north of Post Office Hill .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 2000 after the USNS Private John R. Towle , a cargo ship used in Antarctic waters between 1956 and 1980 .
