The Town House is an administration building near the shores of Loch Fyne in the Scottish town of Inveraray . It is the middle of the three buildings along northwest Front Street . The house and is located directly on the A83 , which connects the south of the Argyll and Bute region to the Kintyre Peninsula on the Central Belt . In 1966 Chamberlain's House was included in the Scottish Monuments List in the highest category A.

Construction began in 1755 and the building was completed after two years of construction. It is based on plans by the Scottish architect John Adam , who also designed other houses in the planned town of Inveraray, which was then under construction . This makes the Town House one of the oldest buildings in the city center. The customs offices were originally located in this building. It also served as a courthouse and prison until 1819. Subsequently, the Town House housed the administration of the Argyll Estates . The city's tourist information office is currently on the ground floor, while the upper floors are used as living space.
