Townley is an impact crater on the front of the Moon , northwest of Mare Spumans , southeast of Apollonius crater, and south of Firmicus . The crater rim is eroded, the crater floor level.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1976 after the American astronomer Sidney Dean Townley .
