The Trail Glacier is a very rugged, roughly 8 km long and 6 km wide glacier in the East Antarctic Mac Robertson Land . On the southern flank of Mount Menzies in the Prince Charles Mountains , 3 km away from its summit, it flows steeply downhill from a firn field at an altitude of about 2,750 m over 900 m and flows a few kilometers further into the Antarctic Ice Sheet .
Aerial photographs of the Australian National Antarctic Research Expeditions and surveys during the exploration of the Prince Charles Mountains between 1960 and 1961 were used for its mapping. The Antarctic Names Committee of Australia named it after the Australian geologist David Scott Trail (* 1931), who was involved in exploring the mountain in December 1961.
