museum

The museum is housed in the buildings of the Schaarbeek train station . It opened on September 25, 2015.

In the over 8,000 m² museum, 22 locomotives are exhibited in an exhibition concept. Noises, music, smells and changing lighting play an essential role. There are a total of 1200 exhibits including an original railway bridge from the 19th century. One of the most important exhibits is the Pays de Waes locomotive from 1845, which is considered to be the oldest surviving locomotive in Europe.

Train World not only wants to give visitors a glimpse into Belgium's past as a railway pioneer on mainland Europe, but also shed light on the current and future role of the railway.
