Trajan is a font designed in 1989 by Carol Twombly for Adobe , which is based on the letter shapes of the inscriptions on the Trajan column (see also Capitalis monumentalis ). Since only uppercase letters were used in the Roman Empire, the font has no lowercase letters ( minuscule ). However, small caps are often used.

The font is best known for its use on movie posters , for example Titanic , Troy or Minority Report , and in some television series, such as Six Feet Under - Always Death or The West Wing - In the Center of Power . They also use the logo of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical company Novartis and the University of Tübingen . In the 2012 presidential election , the font was used for Mitt Romney's campaign .
