Trans Mara District (also: Transmara District) was a district in the Kenyan province of Rift Valley . The capital of the district was Kilgoris . In 1999, 170,591 people lived in the district on 2,846 km². The Trans Mara District area was split off from the Narok District in 1994 . Part of the Masai Mara nature reserve was in the Trans Mara District.
As part of the 2010 constitution , the Kenyan districts were dissolved. The area is now part of Narok County .
