The Transamerica Tower , formerly Legg Mason Building is a skyscraper in Baltimore in the US state of Maryland . It is 161 meters high and has 40 floors. Completed in 1973, it has been the tallest building in Baltimore and Maryland (height to roof) ever since.
After previously serving with Legg Mason, Inc., it was renamed the Transamerica Tower in 2011 when the Transamerica Corporation began using the building. Since then, the headquarters of Legg Mason, Inc. has been located in the new Legg Mason Tower , which was completed in 2009 and is also located in Baltimore. In 2010 the former Legg Mason lettering was removed.
