description

Vegetative characteristics

Sempervivum ciliosum grows as a depressed, spherical, closed or half-open rosette plant with a diameter of 2 to 5 centimeters. Their slender runners are up to 13 centimeters long. The brick-like, oblong lanceolate to oblong obscure lanceolate, light green to reddish or reddish brown leaves are convex on both sides. The leaf blade is 7 to 10 millimeters (rarely up to 25 millimeters) long and 3 to 4 millimeters (rarely up to 6 millimeters) wide. It is pointed to pointed and strongly curved inwards. On the edge of the leaf there are rather stiff, spread out eyelashes up to 4 millimeters long , which become longer towards the tip and are interwoven with the eyelashes of the neighboring leaves.

Generative characteristics

The upright flowering shoot reaches a length of 4 to 10 centimeters. It has leaves that are slightly wider than those of the leaf rosette . The inflorescence consists of compact zymem with three forked coils. The 9 to 14-fold flowers have a diameter of 1.6 to 2.5 centimeters. Their sepals are fused together over a length of 3.5 millimeters. They are pointed, reddish brown, occasionally purple at the tip and are 5 to 7 millimeters long. The linear-lanceolate, pointed to pointed, yellow petals are completely glandular-downy hairy. The stylus is up to 4 centimeters long and bare. The yellowish nectar flakes are round and square.
