traffic

The Transatlantique-Express runs as required and in accordance with the ships' timetable from the Paris station Saint-Lazare to Cherbourg , originally to the Cherbourg-Maritime station there , after it was shut down in 1968 , to the Cherbourg station . It used to serve the traffic of the " Queen Elizabeth 2 ", today that of her successor Queen Mary 2 .

history

For the first time in 1895, according to another source as early as 1889, such trains were used by the Compagnie des chemins de fer de l'Ouest on the order of the Hamburg-America Line , at that time a train made up of saloon cars , exclusively for their 1st class passengers . Later the service was also driven with passenger cars of the Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL).
