from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

transeuropa is a European theater and performance festival for the young scene. It has been held in Hildesheim every three years since 1994 .

profile

transeuropa is a theater and performance festival that has established itself in the European theater landscape in recent years. It shows young, innovative productions by young European artists from the fields of theater, dance and performance.

The heart of the festival is the international co-productions. In Hildesheim, transeuropa offers young European artists space to intensively deal with a selected topic and experimental forms. transeuropa networks the European theater scene in East and West, North and South by providing a forum for structural and content-related exchange between theater professionals.

Guest performances from Germany and Europe make current tendencies and structures of European theater visible. transeuropa is a springboard for young artists and a platform for tracking down new aesthetic and discursive developments. Follow-up engagements for festival premieres in the Sophiensaele Berlin, the Theaterhaus Jena or the Theaterhaus Gessnerallee Zurich are examples of this.

The festival is organized by transeuropa eV and takes place in cooperation with the University of Hildesheim and its courses in applied cultural studies. Research-based theater studies act as an amplifier here, stimulating and discussing innovative forms. The focus is on the investigation of production processes and the testing of new types of reflection formats with invited experts from science and practice. Theatrical discourse as well as the promotion of young theater approaches give transeuropa a special profile and have also made it known in specialist circles.
