The transit. European Revue has been a cultural magazine that has been published twice a year since the autumn of 1990 and saw itself as a forum for debates between Central and Eastern European and Western European as well as between European and North American intellectuals. The magazine was discontinued in 2018 after the fiftieth issue.

Transit was published at the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna, founded by Krzysztof Michalski , and published by the New Criticism publishing house . The editor-in-chief is IWM-Permanent Fellow Klaus Nellen . The editorial committee included Timothy Garton Ash , Claus Leggewie and Aleksander Smolar , while the authors included Ralf Dahrendorf , François Furet , Bronisław Geremek , Charles S. Maier , Adam Michnik , Pierre Nora , Timothy Snyder and Charles Taylor .
