The Translohr Tianjin is a so-called " Tramway sur pneumatiques " ( French for "tram on rubber tires") in the southeastern district of Binhai of the Chinese city of Tianjin . The 7.86 kilometer long radial line , operated according to the French Translohr system, connects the TEDA (Dongting Road) station on Line 9 of the Tianjin subway with the so-called College District . The scheme is run by transport companies Tianjin Binhai Mass Transit Development Co. out and called the line first Construction work for the system began in 2005, test operations began on December 6, 2006, and regular passenger operations finally began on May 10, 2007. The connection is operated with eight three-part two- way articulated wagons of the type STE3 with the numbers 001–008 and serves the following 14 stops :
