Binhai (Tianjin)
The "New District" Binhai ( Chinese 滨海 新区 , Pinyin Bīnhăi Xīn Qū ) is a district of the government- direct city of Tianjin in northern China .
history
Binhai was founded on January 1, 2010 and formed from the areas of the dissolved former districts of Hangu , Tanggu and Dagang . Binhai has an area of 2.270 km² and approx. 3 million inhabitants (as of 2020). The seat of the people's government of Binhai is the street Xingang (新港 街道).
Binhai New Town was included in strategic planning during the 5th plenary session of the 16th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China .
On August 12, 2015, explosions in a chemical warehouse left hundreds of people dead and injured.
Infrastructure
With the port of Tianjin , the largest seaport in North China is located in Binhai on Bohai Bay . In connection with Tianjin Airport, 30 km away, Binhai forms one of the freight centers in northern China.
The economic focus of the district is on international investments and cooperative projects. More than 1000 international projects with an investment volume of 3.4 billion US dollars have already been implemented. Among the international companies that have settled in Binhai are Volkswagen , Toyota and Samsung .
Yujiapu
The district of Yujiapu (Chinese: 于 家堡; Pinyin: Yújiāpù) is planned as a central financial center (English: Yujiapu Financial District ), but cannot compete with the metropolises of Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
Administrative structure
At the community level, Binhai is made up of 21 street districts and eight large communities .
