The airport Tianjin Binhai International Airport is the commercial airport in the centrally-administered city of Tianjin . The airport was built in November 1939. The People's Republic of China's first civil flight took off from Tianjin Airport on May 1, 1950. In 1996 the airport received approval for international flights and added the name 'Binhai International'. Since 2002 the airport has belonged to the 'Capital Airport Holding Company (CAH)' which also operates the airports in Beijing , Nanchang , Wuhan , Chongqing , Guiyang , Changchun , Hohhot and Harbin . A new terminal with 19 passenger boarding bridges was built through extensive modernizations and new buildings from August 2005 to 2007 . From 2009 a second runway and additional aircraft parking areas were added.
