All-wheel drive DH 90
All-wheel drive DH 440 (cargolok)

Translok is a German manufacturer of road- rail vehicles based in Geldern in the Kleve district .

history

The company allrad Rangiertechnik GmbH in Heiligenhaus in the Mettmann district in North Rhine-Westphalia manufactured a good 60 small shunting tractors for industry and local transport companies, which were sold under the name minilok by the Zwiehoff company in Rosenheim. The company in an industrial park in the east of the city had no siding. After the managing director's death in June 1999, the procurement of spare parts and customer service were initially taken over by the Translok company in Geldern. In 2002 the company resumed the production of new locomotives based on the range offered by allrad and has continued to develop it to this day. The counting of the serial number of the manufactured shunting vehicles was continued by allrad. Translok was and is also a specialist in coupling systems, radio remote controls and hydrostatic power transmission for all types of aggregates. The portfolio also includes customer service for shunting locomotives.

technology

As an alternative to the conventional rail-bound shunting locomotives, the all-wheel shunting technology developed locomotives that can run both on the road and on tracks. So the shunting vehicle can be moved. The shunting locomotives with hydrostatic power transmission and single-wheel drive in the lower performance segment have no rigid axles. A hydrostatic pump transfers the power of the diesel engine to each individual wheel. From the beginning, numerous parts from the series production of trucks were installed in order to keep acquisition costs and maintenance low. The power spectrum ranges from around 100 kW to 500 kW and thus achieves the comparable output of a medium-sized shunting locomotive. Both road-rail vehicles and rail-bound shunting locomotives are manufactured. All vehicles can be equipped with wagon braking systems, radio remote control, automatic shunting couplings , in a wide variety of gauges, with air conditioning, particle filters ( level IIIB / Tier 4) or double traction control (in conjunction with radio remote control).

Series

Historic series

The product range of miniloks comprised two and four-axle locomotives with track guidance systems . The program also included 6-axis versions of the type DH 300 and 340, but they were not built. The minilok with batteries and gas drive was also offered. While the whereabouts of the test locomotive of the type E 20 with serial number 001 is not known, the locomotive from the three-part advance series with the serial number 002 of the type VH 40 is being received at the RIM Rhenish Industrial Railway Museum in Cologne. Series delivery began at the end of the 1970s with the types DH 40 and DH 60. The former was only manufactured until the mid-1980s and is no longer available today.

Current series

DH 60 is one of the first types that have been produced in series by all-wheel shunting technology since the 1970s and is still offered by Translok GmbH today. In the mid-1990s, allrad developed the so-called cargolok of the DH 440 type, which was also tested by the German Federal Railroad as the 350 series, on its own initiative and for its own account . Today she is driving at a power plant operator in the port of Karlsruhe. With these shunting locomotives, the company hoped to enter the business of larger locomotives. So far, however, only three machines of this type have been put into service. Today the range of shunting locomotives ranges from the two-axle DH 60 , DH 90 to the four-axle DH 100 , DH 140 and the almost 700 hp DH 440 , which is also still on offer.
