history

The company was founded in 1995 under the name Aspect Online. In 1996 it was the first to offer an online comparison for motor vehicle insurance, at that time still via BTX . In 2011 the insurers HDI , HUK-Coburg and WGV took over the majority of Aspect Online AG. In 2012 the company changed its name to transparo AG. In April 2014 it was announced that HUK-Coburg had taken over all shares, the portal was closed on July 1st, 2014. In May 2014 the name of transparo AG was changed to transparo GmbH. The Transparo brand and the Internet address were then acquired from Verivox .

Certification

The car insurance comparison was certified by TÜV Saarland . The auditors confirm that the portal lists the comparison results neutrally and objectively. Compliance with the quality standards is checked by TÜV on a quarterly basis. The rating agency Assekurata Solutions has also certified the vehicle comparison portal. The institute confirms that transparo deals with all business partners fairly and trustingly. In its guidelines, transparo promises, among other things, to treat all business partners equally in order to ensure that all products are properly presented.

With the certifications, the comparison portal countered doubts about its neutrality after three insurers took over the majority on the portal.

criticism

In the press there is sometimes criticism of comparison portals in general. Many consumers are not aware that portals earn money with the conclusion of contracts. In addition, consumer advocates point out that all providers are not compared in any portal.

According to the transparo guidelines, all providers can take part in the comparison, regardless of whether transparo receives a commission for the brokerage or not. transparo also publishes a list of participating and non-participating providers. In addition, the company recommends in its rules for consumers to always compare the results of at least two comparison portals.
