TrapWire
Trapwire Inc. (. English noose snare ) is a security company in the United States (headquarters: Reston , Virginia ) that the fight against terrorism video surveillance in the US and the UK coordinated. TrapWire is also the name of the software. The monitoring system has existed since 2003.
function
The system monitors local traffic , public spaces, but also hotels and casinos. In the New York City subway stations alone , 500 surveillance cameras are to be automatically evaluated for "suspicious" behavior.
The way it works was described by the company's employees as follows:
"Reports of suspicious movements from all facilities in the TrapWire network are linked in a central database and run through a pattern recognition that looks for evidence of terrorist spying on the scene or other preparations for attacks."
In August 2012, WikiLeaks published emails from Stratfor , making the TrapWire surveillance network, which had existed for years, public. As a result, there were distributed denial-of-service attacks against the WikiLeaks website, which lasted for several days.
Network activists called for a global day of protest against INDECT and TrapWire on October 20, 2012 .
References to other Abraxas engagements
TrapWire Inc. is owned by Abraxas Corporation , whose owner Cubic Corporation acquired the company in November 2010 for cash of US $ 124,000,000 . One of the prerequisites for the transaction was to outsource all activities associated with the TrapWire software in advance so that they are not associated with the name Abraxas in any way.
In May 2008, Abraxas Corporation acquired Anonymizer , an anonymization service used by political activists, among others, worldwide.
