Victoria Trappist Abbey
The Trappist abbey Victoria (lat. Abbatia Beatae Mariae de Victoria ;. Engl Our Lady of Victoria Abbey ) is since 1956 a monastery of Trappist , first in Kenya , since 2008 in Uganda in Africa .
history
Monks of the Dutch Trappist Abbey of Tilburg founded the Maria Victoria (English: Our Lady of Victoria ) monastery in Kenya (Kipkelion, Kericho County ) in 1956 , which was elevated to an abbey in 1967 . In 2008 they had to flee to Uganda because of the unrest and moved there (after a short stopover in Masaka ) in 2010 to a new monastery near Kyotera in the district of Rakai ( Diocese of Masaka ).
