The Mount Vineuo or Mount Oiautukekea is a volcanic cone on Goodenough Island ( Nidula ) in Milne Bay Province , Papua New Guinea . With a height of 2536 meters, it is the highest peak on the D'Entrecasteaux Islands .
Since Goodenough Island is only 687 km², the mountain drops very steeply. In fact, behind the Azores island of Fogo and the Heard Island in the Indian Ocean, it is the third highest island in the world with an area smaller than 1800 km². Overall, Mount Vineuo is the sixth most prominent peak in Oceania (excluding New Guinea). Thanks to him, Goodenough Island is also the third highest island in Papua New Guinea after New Guinea and Bougainville .
