The Trappist Jacona since 1981, a Mexican monastery of Trappist monks in Jacona de Plancarte, Michoacán , Diocese of Zamora (Mexico) .

history

The Spanish Trappist Abbey of San Isidro de Dueñas founded the Virgen del Curutarán (also: Nuestra Señora de Curutarán or: Trapa de Curutarán ) monastery in Mexico near Zamora de Hidalgo , five kilometers from the city of Jacona on Mount Curutarán , which was elevated to a priory in 1989 . The first monks were four Spaniards and one Argentine (from the Azul Trappist Abbey ), then Mexicans joined them.
