Whitland Trappist Abbey
The Trappistinnenabtei Whitland , the official name of Holy Cross Abbey is, since 1991, a British monastery of Trappist nuns in Whitland , Carmarthenshire , in the diocese Menevia in Wales .
history
In 1991 the nuns of Stapehill Abbey moved the convent to Whitland (20 km west of Carmarthen , between St. Clears and Narberth) to a location in Pembrokeshire , not far from the ruins of the Cistercian monastery Whitland Abbey , which is in Carmarthenshire. It took 20 years to convert a former motel into a modern monastery. The founding bishop was Daniel Joseph Mullins .
