Old and new school Zerkwitz is the name for two listed buildings in Zerkwitz , a district of the city of Lübbenau / Spreewald in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in the south of Brandenburg .

Description and history

The two buildings are located in the center of Zerkwitz at Luckauer Straße 15 and Zerkwitzer Hauptstraße 15 , right next to the Zerkwitz village church . The former sexton's house at Luckauer Straße 15 was built in 1770. The building is a three-bar , five-axis , single - storey half-timbered building with a half-hip roof . The south-west facing gable is made of massive brick masonry. Initially, the building was used as the home of the Zerkwitzer sexton. School lessons later took place in the building, after the addition of the new school building the village teacher's apartment was located in the half-timbered building.

Around 1870, a new brick building was added to the north-east gable of the old school . It is a single-storey, five-axis building under a gable roof . This building became the new teaching building of the Zerkwitzer village school, while the village teacher lived in the older rear part of the building.
