Trauen is a district of the Lower Saxon town of Munster in the Lüneburg Heath .
Trauen is about 7 km south of the city center. The Kleine Örtze flows in the south of the village, the entire length of which was declared a nature reserve in 1993 .
The state road L 240 leads through Trauen. Trauen lies on the Beckedorf – Munster railway line .
During the time of the Berlin Airlift , over 500,000 tons of coal from the Ruhr area were transported by train to Trauen station. The coal, packed in sacks, was loaded onto trucks, driven to Faßberg air base , and then flown to Berlin.
To the east of Trauen, but already in the area of the municipality of Faßberg , is the Trauen site of the DLR for testing rocket engines . At the beginning of the 1940s , Eugen Sänger made firing attempts here. In the 1960s , burning tests with the upper stage of the Europa rocket were carried out here.
On February 1, 1971, Trauen was incorporated into the city of Munster.
