The Kleine Örtze is a tributary of the Örtze , in the Lower Saxony district of Heidekreis .
course
The Kleine Örtze rises east of Munster , within the Munster-Nord military training area . After a kilometer, it crosses the Munster - Uelzen railway line and then continues south through the Munster district of Oerrel. Shortly after the village it crosses the federal road 71 . Further south through its original and renatured valley, it then flows to Trauen and on to Kreutzen. Here it flows into the Örtze . Before its renaturation, the upper reaches of the Kleine Örtze functioned as a drainage ditch for the former high moor, which has now been reforested. The entire length of the narrow valley, with the exception of the first kilometer, was declared a nature reserve with a total area of 330 hectares in 1993 . (Designation: Valley of the Little Örtze ; Registration: NSG LÜ 207).
Flora and fauna
On rare plants that are specially protected according to the German Federal Species Protection Ordinance, the swamp heart leaf (Parnassia palustris) and the knotweed pondweed (Potamogeton polygonifolius) grow here .
Rare insects include the water beetle Deronectes latus, the drowned fast swimmer Agabus guttatus and the dwarf swimmer Hydroporus rufifrons, as well as the larvae of the green stonefly Isoptena serricornis.
Patency for fish
There was a mill jam in Trauen . The weir has now fallen into disrepair, the dust savers have been removed. Nevertheless, the rest of the former weir with its drop height for small fish species and even for trout an obstacle to Aufwanderung represents.
