Traugott Hirschberger

Traugott Hirschberger (born March 15, 1811 in Lampersdorf ; † February 13, 1897 in Lübbenau ) was a miller and a member of the German Reichstag .

Life

After attending primary school, Hirschberger learned the miller's trade in connection with mill construction. During his wandering years he came to Lübbenau in the Spreewald and found a job as a journeyman miller with the local city miller. After his death in 1838 he married the miller's widow and inherited the mill after her death. In Lübbenau he was in many clubs, u. a. the training club, the men's gymnastics club and the bank club. In 1875 he founded a further education school, where he also taught himself. Today the 1st elementary school in Lübbenau is named after him.

From 1861 to 1866 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives and from 1881 to 1884 of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Frankfurt 9 Cottbus , Spremberg and the German Progressive Party .
