Traugott Jähnichen (born May 15, 1959 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German Protestant theologian . Since 1998 he has been Professor of Christian Social Studies at the Evangelical Theological Faculty of the Ruhr University in Bochum .

Life

After graduating from high school, Jähnichen studied Protestant theology at the Ruhr University Bochum and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1984 he passed the first theological exam at the Evangelical Church of Westphalia . After a two-year vicariate in Wattenscheid-Eppendorf , the second theological exam followed in 1986. As a scholarship holder of the Hans Böckler Foundation , Jähnichen received his doctorate in 1991 with a paper on social Protestantism and the development of co-determination . Between 1989 and 1990 he was pastor in the auxiliary service in Bochum and from 1990 to 1998 he was a research assistant and research assistant to Günter Brakelmann . A study of economics he joined in 1993 at the UW Wuppertal as a graduate economist from. In 1997 he completed his habilitation.

Jähnichen is u. a. Co-editor of the magazine for Protestant ethics and the yearbook of social Protestantism . He is currently researching church home education in the early Federal Republic of Germany (1949–1972) on behalf of the Diakonie. Jähnichen has been a member of the church leadership of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia (EKvW) since 2013 .
