Under Trecento ( Italian "three hundred") historians and art historians understand the time of the Protenaissance in Italy in the 14th century (Italian mille trecento , shortened trecento ). For the history of music, the years between 1320 and 1420 are counted for this period.

The centuries are referred to in Italian as Duecento , Trecento, Quattrocento , Cinquecento , Seicento , etc.
