Franz Trenner

Franz Trenner (born November 12, 1915 in Munich ; † November 4, 1992 ) was a German musicologist who dealt in particular with the life and work of the composer Richard Strauss .

Trenner did his doctorate in his hometown Munich on the collaboration between Hugo von Hofmannsthal and Richard Strauss . He wrote monographs on Richard Strauss, he edited some of the composer's correspondence (including with Cosima Wagner ) as well as "found items" from the Richard Strauss archive in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . He also created a chronological list of works (abbreviated to TRENNER or TrV).
