Triakel is a Swedish folk music - Trio .

Triakel consists of the singer Emma Härdelin , the violinist Kjell-Erik Eriksson and Janne Strömstedt , who plays the harmonium . The band members are well known in the Swedish folk music scene; Emma Härdelin is also the singer of the band Garmarna and Kjell-Erik Eriksson and Janne Strömstedt are or were members of the folk-rock band Hoven Droven .

Their music comes mainly from ballads and traditional Swedish tunes, especially from Hälsingland and Jämtland . In the songs, the Swedish way of life between the exhilaration of their festivals and the silent depression of the long winter nights can be particularly well understood. Death and pain are discussed just as much as love and longing. Triakel also have humorous songs and sacred songs in their repertoire.

The group was founded in 1995 after Eriksson and Strömstedt played some songs together on New Year's Eve because of a lost bet . The success of this performance was so convincing that the two decided to continue the project. Since Eriksson was known to Emma Härdelin, he asked her if she would like to take part in the new project, whereupon the three musicians founded Triakel.

A special feature of the band are the calm and simple acoustic arrangements of the songs, which clearly stand out from the other musical style of the individual members. In recent years Triakel has performed in many European countries as well as in the USA and Canada.

The band takes its name from a liquorice candy typical of Jämtland . According to Eriksson, the idea came to him because the mood of her music was dark and Emma's voice was sweet.
