Grandstand. Journal for Understanding Judaism has been a quarterly journal since 1962, edited by Elisabeth Reisch and editorially supervised by Otto R. Romberg. Until his death on July 4, 2010, the former WDR journalist Heiner Lichtenstein was also the magazine's editor.

Nationwide swastika graffiti at the end of the 1950s and beginning of the 1960s, according to the editorial concept of the tribune, provided the occasion to counter existing anti-Semitic tendencies with a magazine for a better understanding of Judaism . Well-known authors from the scientific and journalistic fields have been writing for the magazine since then, for example the historians Wolfgang Benz and Peter Steinbach or the publicists Henryk M. Broder and Ralph Giordano . Extensive interviews with Israeli and German politicians such as Ariel Scharon and Avi Primor or Horst Köhler and Angela Merkel are another integral part of the content.

The range of topics includes justice and right-wing extremism , history of right-wing extremism, Jewish and non-Jewish memory of the Shoah , Jews in Germany since 1945, " Nazi debates " in Germany, Jewish history and the present, xenophobia and racism , Israel and the Middle East conflict , religious Fundamentalism , terrorism and social and economic conflicts. Due to the advertising crisis, the grandstand ceased publication with issue 204 at the end of 2012 and will carry out a final digitization of all 204 issues in the course of 2013. Since then, the magazine has continued to publish a few articles online at its web address every month.
