Trifolias

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Trifolien is a common waltz by Johann , Josef and Eduard Strauss. The work was performed for the first time on February 13, 1865 in the Dianabad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The joint work of the Strauss brothers was written for the carnival ball of the artists' association Hesperus and premiered there under the direction of Eduard. The waltz consists of three parts, the first being composed by Johann, the second by Josef and the third by Eduard. The title name Trifolien refers to the three composers. Apparently the publisher found the original composition too short. Therefore each part of the waltz had to be expanded by a trio, which explains the somewhat unusual stylistic orientation of this work. The three brothers later found each other only once for a common composition. This resulted in the Schützen Quadrille in 1868 .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 10 minutes and 32 seconds. Depending on the musical conception of the conductor, this time can change by up to a minute plus or minus.
